
Dachs Moves on at Cajun Classic

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU men's tennis senior Arnau Dachs is into the Round of 16 at the Cajun Classic on the campus of Louisiana-Lafayette after winning his first round match Thursday morning.
Dachs defeated Nicolai Ferrigno of Oklahoma State in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to move on and play Chris Simpson of LSU in the second round. Dachs and Simpson began their second round match, with Simpson taking the first set 7-6 before rain canceled the rest of the day's action.
Senior Will Stein and newcomers Trevor Johnson and Guillermo Nunez also competed in singles on day one, but dropped their first round matches in the main draw. Stein fought hard against George Goldhoff and won a second set tiebreaker, but the Texas Longhorn player won in the end, 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-1.
Nunez also went to three sets in his match against Arjun Kudhe of Oklahoma State and won the first set 6-4, before dropping the next two 6-2, 6-1 to lose the match. Johnson dropped his first round match to Lucas Gerch of Oklahoma State 6-4, 6-3.
All three competitors moved into the consolation singles draw with the trio all pulling out wins in the first round. Nunez defeated Adrien Berkowitz of Texas 6-4, 6-3, while Johnson easily handled Vlad Kramarov of Louisiana-Lafayette 6-1, 6-1. Stein was set to face Andrew Korinek of LSU, but Korinek withdrew giving Stein a spot in the second round.
All four players will be in action in singles and doubles starting at 9 a.m., tomorrow on the Cajun Courts in Lafayette, La.
