TCU head coach Raegan Pebley
Opening statement
"Well, when you are going to get pressed like that, which is one of our m.o.'s too, you are going to look for your defense to fuel your offense. They really executed through their press and rushed some poor shots. We did some good things with 21 assists to 21 field goals and we moved the ball really well. But when we rushed our decisions and didn't stay consistent with that, there were a lot of turnovers. We needed a game like this though. We needed to get pressed and we needed to be in a close game situation and see how it feels like and how to get through it. A win's a win, and that's a good team. I'm proud of our team."
On Veja Hamilton's performance in the game
"Veja's a nice passer. She has good instincts for the game and brings a physical presence to the floor for us as well. What we really want to see out of Veja is, and she had seven boards tonight, to just be a consistent rebounding presence. We need that out of all of our players."
On the team's adjustments at halftime
"We did a better job at taking care of the ball early in the second half. That helped us get some high percentage shots, and it allowed our defense to set up. We got good things out of our man-to-man and our zone sets, so it's really just about composure and protecting possessions."
On the team's performance from the charity stripe
"That was very nice to see us convert at the free-throw line. Our goal is 80 percent, and that was a big key to this win."
TCU guard Veja Hamilton
On her performance tonight
"I wasn't focused on scoring or anything in particular, I just wanted the win."
On how Lamar's defense affected TCU's play
"They had a lot of point guards who just threw us off our game a little bit with pressure, but we ended up getting the win and that's all that matters."
On how the team adjusted its play throughout the game
"We knew from the beginning we weren't playing our game, and in the second half we got a little run on them and we just kind of fell back over the rest of the game, but we pulled it out and we are going to go forward."
On how she views her role on the team
"I feel like one of the things I contribute to this team is passing, and my ability to get around the floor. We have some good shooters on the perimeter and I try to get it to them as much as I can."
