Men's Tennis Represented in Regional Finals

FORT WORTH, Texas - Two TCU men's tennis newcomers, Cameron Norrie and Trevor Johnson, have earned a berth into the singles and doubles finals at the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships at the Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas on Monday.
In his first collegiate tournament, Norrie was able to post two straight singles victories on Monday to earn his spot in the singles final, while Norrie also teamed up with Johnson to win their semifinal match to make it to the doubles finals as well.
The Auckland, New Zealand native, opened the day by defeating fellow teammate and senior Will Stein, 6-2, 6-0 in his quarterfinal matchup. Norrie would move on to face his first ranked opponent of the season and easily took care of No. 106 Adrien Berkowicz of Texas, 6-3, 6-1.
Norrie will take on another Longhorn, No. 5 Soren Hess-Olesen, in the finals on Tuesday at 9 a.m., on the campus of Texas A&M.
After taking out their first ranked opponent as a doubles pair, Norrie and Johnson faced the No. 7 seeded team of Michael Feucht and Nikita Lis of Lamar in their semifinal match. The duo were victorious in straight sets and took out their opponent, 6-3, 7-5 to make it to their first final in their young careers.
The pair will have to face a familiar Big 12 foe in Tony Lupieri and Antonio Rios of Baylor who were able to take out No. 5 Stein and Nick Chappell in the other semifinals, 1-6, 6-2, 10-7. The doubles tandems will faceoff at 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday.
The winner of both the singles final and the doubles final will earn an automatic bid to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing Meadows, New York on Nov. 6-9.
