TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
On the play of the team today:
"I do not think the team played very well today, but I do think we are gelling better than we did earlier this year. The first half we had 11 turnovers and did not shoot it very well, but I do think this team is coming together very well."
On the slow start:
"We had six turnovers in the first four minutes. I know we need to start better. That is the point guards responsibility. Helena is the quarterback and we need her to set the tempo and play we need. I think she bounced back very well with a great second half."
On the better second half of the season:
"I think we are playing with greater effort and better enthusiasm. We are a healthier team. I also think this team has learned a lot about themselves through the tough games that we have lost. We have recommitted themselves to play at a higher level."
On Helena and the assist record:
"That is a special record here because we have had some great players that have held that record before her. For that record to happen, it takes a team to make some shots after the pass happens."
On Starr's big plays:
"We are getting more offensive chances and those chances are working for us. Starr had two big plays down the stretch, which both of them were left handed lay-ups."
TCU Guard Helena Sverrisdottir
On the better play of the team second half of the season:
"We are having a lot more fun out there on the court right now. We come into practice everyday willing to do whatever coach says and that is helping us."
On the assist record:
"It is great and I will always be able to look back on it. The reason I am able to get this record is because I have such good shooters around me."
On today's game:
"I did have a good feeling before the game, but after the bad start to the game, I realized I could not do anything about the first four minutes. All I could do was play my best the rest of the game."
TCU Forward DeLisa Gross
On the slow start:
"I think we need to focus on how we start the game because we are not getting the results we want at the beginning of the games."
