POSTGAME NOTES
TCU 79, UNLV 64
Fort Worth, Texas (Daniel-Meyer Coliseum)
Feb. 23, 2010
Attendance: 2,431
- TCU improved to 20-6 overall this season and 10-3 in the Mountain West Conference standings. The Frogs will enter the weekend in no worse than a first-place tie with BYU with only three games remaining in the regular season.
- The victory pushed TCU to the 20-win plateau for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons. The Frogs had never won 20 games in a season prior to Jeff Mittie's second season as head coach in 2000-01.
- TCU extended its school-record home winning streak to 21 straight victories dating back to a Jan. 13, 2009 loss to BYU. Entering Tuesday, the streak ranked as the longest in the MWC and No. 6 nationally.
- TCU avoided dropping consecutive MWC games for the first time since 2006-07.
- TCU shot a season-best 53.3 percent from the field, marking the fifth time this season the team shot better than 50.0 percent.
- TCU utilized a different starting lineup for the first time in 20 games dating back to a Nov. 27 loss to Minnesota in the Bahamas' Junkanoo Jam tournament. TK LaFleur made her first start since that setback to the Golden Gophers, only her six of the season, while Micah Garoutte started for the first time this season.
- The Frogs improved to 16-0 when shooting 40.0 percent or better from the field, 16-1 when outshooting the opponent and 16-1 when committing fewer turnovers.
- Helena Sverrisdottir moved past TCU assistant coach and former Lady Frog Tricia Payne (1,178 points) into sixth place on the program's career scoring list. Sverrisdottir now has 1,179 career points.
- Sverrisdottir also moved from sixth place into fourth on TCU's single-season assists chart, passing by former Frogs Julie Hendrickson (133 in 1984-85) and Andrea Boris (135 in 1992-93). She has 139 helpers this season.
- Starr Crawford pulled down eight rebounds to move past Sverrisdottir (229 in 2008-09) into ninth place on TCU's single-season rebounds list. Crawford now has 230 boards this season.
- Emily Carter tied single-game career highs with 25 points and nine field goals. Her five 3-pointers marked a season best, only one shy of the career high of six she totaled in a Jan. 7, 2009 win vs. Colorado State.
