TCU Names Metcalfe Assistant Director of Athletic Media Relations

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU Director of Media Relations Mark Cohen has announced the hiring of Tamara Metcalfe, former assistant sports information director at Florida State University, to the Horned Frog athletics staff. She will serve as assistant director of media relations and will assist in publicity efforts for the women's basketball, football and women's tennis programs.
Metcalfe, a native of Midlothian, Texas, and a Texas Tech University graduate, started her post at TCU July 5.
"We're real excited and fortunate to have Tamara join our staff," Cohen said. "We had a lot of strong candidates and she emerged as a perfect fit. Tamara brings a lot of great experience from having worked under Rob Wilson at Florida State. Being from the Metroplex, she is also very familiar with our market."
Metcalfe joins the Frog family after spending the previous two years at Florida State, overseeing the Seminoles' volleyball and tennis programs. In addition, she was responsible for assisting in gameday operations with football and men's and women's basketball.

"TCU is an outstanding school, academically and athletically, and I look forward to promoting the university, its coaches and student-athletes. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with three nationally recognized programs like the women's basketball, football and women's tennis teams."
Prior to FSU, Metcalfe worked one year at Pepperdine University as well as serving in media relations roles with USA Basketball and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
A 2002 graduate of Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism, Metcalfe worked two and a half years as a student assistant in the Texas Tech Athletic Media Relations office. During college at Texas Tech, Metcalfe served as the president of Kappa Delta Sorority where she guided over 175 women. For her efforts, she was named 'Texas Tech Greek Sophomore of the Year' in 2000.
She is a member of several national organizations such as the United State Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), Football Writers Association of America, College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA), and Kappa Delta Sorority.
Metcalfe was a four-sport, all-district athlete at Duncanville and Midlothian High School where she competed in basketball, softball, cross-country and volleyball.
Metcalfe, 26, is single and spends her free-time volunteering with the Lupus Foundation of America on behalf of her younger sister, Tara, who suffers from the widespread and chronic autoimmune disease.
