FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU Women's Basketball Head Coach Jeff Mittie announced on Thursday the addition of Hanna Biernacka to the Lady Frogs' roster. Biernacka, who played for LSU during the past two seasons, will be eligible for competition upon completion of the fall 2006 semester.Biernacka played in 33 of 35 games as a freshman in 2003-04 and started 27 for a Tiger squad that reached the NCAA Final Four. The 6-foot-1 forward from Stockholm, Sweden, finished the year averaging 4.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists. She shot 41.6 percent from the field and made 75.9 percent of her free throw attempts.
A former Swedish National Team member, Biernacka's top performances as a freshman included scoring a career-high 14 points in a victory over Auburn and tallying 13 points in an opening-round win against Austin Peay in the NCAA Tournament. In total, Biernacka reached double figures in the scoring column six times as a rookie.
As a sophomore, Biernacka saw limited playing time in 19 games and finished the year averaging 1.8 points and 1.1 rebounds. She appeared in three games in fall 2005 before leaving the team for personal reasons.
"I'm excited to get a player with her capabilities," Mittie said. "Hanna gained valuable experience at LSU and will be a great fit for us at the power forward spot."
Prior to attending LSU, Biernacka averaged 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists for her club team, Telge Energi. She earned first-team all-league recognition and participated in the FIBA European Championships for Junior Women in 2002.
