Lady Frogs Sign Junior College Center

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU head coach Jeff Mittie has announced that 6-4 center Stephanie Faulkner of Iowa Western Community College has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Lady Frogs in the 2002-03 season.
"We went into the spring signing period focusing on signing a player at the '5' position," Mittie said. "Stephanie fills an immediate hole at the center spot. She can score with her back to the basket, is a very athletic player and will be a presence in the paint for us over the next two years."
Faulkner, who hails from Omaha, Neb., averaged 14.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocked shots per game as a sophomore for Iowa Western. She blocked a school-record eight shots in a single game during the season.
The Reivers finished the 2001-02 season with a 30-5 record overall and were the district champions. In addition to the school-record-setting win total, the team also placed fifth at the National Junior College Tournament, the best finish in school history. Faulkner, who will be a junior for the Horned Frogs, was coached by Jeff Tadtman at Iowa Western.
