Scott Goodrich became TCU's assistant coach entering the 2019-20 season.
Goodrich spent the past three years at the Scottsdale Aquatic Club where he was the lead site coach for South Scottsdale. In 2018 his junior team earned third place at the Winter Junior National Championship. In 2016, his team took home first at the Winter Junior National Team Championship.
"His experience at the college level of Arizona State, the club level with a respected program at Scottsdale Aquatic Club, and with his experience coaching one of the fastest men alive (Cesar Cielo), is going to bring a ton to the table," Winchester said. "His experience with sprinters is going to bring a distinct impact to our program and I couldn't be more excited to welcome Scott to our family."
Prior to his time at the Scottsdale Aquatic Club, Goodrich coached at the Mac-West Aquatic Club in Mesa, Arizona, and was an assistant coach at Arizona State.
Goodrich also coached two-time Brazilian Olympian Cesar Cielo from 2013-16. Under Goodrich's tenure, Cielo achieved a gold medal in the 50 freestyle and 50 Butterfly at FINA World Championships. In 2014, Cielo won the 100m Freestyle at the World Championships as well.
As a student-athlete, Goodrich competed at Auburn University. He was a four-time NCAA champion, seven-time SEC Champion and 10-time All-American. In 2004 and 2008, Goodrich qualified for the US Olympic Team Trials.
"I am thrilled to be joining coach Winchester and his staff at Texas Christian University," Goodrich said. "Everything from the beautiful campus, to the vision coach Winchester has for the program is a perfect fit. I am really excited for the opportunity and look forward to working with this amazing team."
