Freshman continues to bring in conference awards

FORT WORTH – Standout freshman Avery Dillon of the TCU swimming and diving team has been named the Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Dillon was TCU's top performer at the Mizzou Invite, earning second place in the 200 free (1:47.24) and 500 free (4:44.57) and contributed to the 800 free relay (1:47.72 split) that finished third overall. Her time of 4:44.57 in the 500 free broke the school record, while her split in the 800 free relay marked the second-fastest time in school history. She added a fourth-place finish in the 1650 free (16:39.01) as well as a 49.93 split in the 400 free relay.

This marks Dillon's second Big 12 weekly award this season. The freshman now has program-best marks in the 500 free, 1000 free and also has the second-fastest effort in the 200 free.

Catch Dillon and the rest of the Horned Frogs in action in back-to-back home meets against Oklahoma Christian (Dec. 13) and Trinity (Jan. 3).
