TCU standouts to represent their home countries on global stage
FORT WORTH – Two of TCU's returning letter winners have received yet another international call-up to compete for their home countries.
Clara Bielefeld and Clara Silva, who led the Horned Frogs to a repeat run to the Elite Eight in 2025-26, will both play in the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket from July 4-12.
Bielefeld will represent her native Germany in Division A in Alytus and Klaipėda, Lithuania.
Silva and Portugal are competing in Division B, which takes place at Samokov, Bulgaria. The tournament finalists and winner of the third place game receive a promotion to Division A, the flagship event, for the 2027 EuroBasket.

The consensus top amateur player in the Portuguese Basketball Federation, Silva turned heads at the 2025 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup. She averaged a near double-double of 23 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game in leading Portugal to a seventh place finish and its first quarterfinal appearance in a World cup for men or women and at either the youth or senior level. Silva was named Best Defensive Player and was one of five players tabbed to the All-Tournament team. She topped the 16-team tournament field in total blocks (20), blocks per game and efficiency rating (+25) while also ranking second in scoring average and third in total rebounding.
Silva has competed in the Portuguese National Team system since 2021. The U20 EuroBasket marks her seventh FIBA championship.
Bielefeld made history in her own regard last spring, becoming the youngest player to play for Germany's senior national team at age-17. The 6-4 guard suited up for the parent club in a series of international friendlies in May of 2025. She then went on to lead Germany to a silver medal at the FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket Division B. Bielefeld averaged 10.9 rebounds, 8.9 points, 5.3 assists, 2.7 blocks and 2.4 steals per game to lift Germany to a promotion back to Division A.
She has trained with the German senior national team throughout the summer. Germany is set to host the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup from Sept. 4-13 in Berlin.
Both players' continued development is paramount to the Frogs' future success.
Silva became a known commodity throughout the Big 12 and nationally during her sophomore season. She concluded the 2025-26 campaign as one of 14 players in college basketball and one of five underclassmen averaging at least nine points, seven rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 55 percent from the floor. Silva racked up at least nine rebounds in 19 outings and notched six double-doubles. She ranked second among all Big 12 players in blocks per game (1.8) and 19th nationally in total blocks (67).
Bielefeld's ability to defend multiple positions and offensive versatility earned her a spot in veteran-laden TCU rotation. She checked into 30 of a possible 38 games, logging double digit minutes in 2022. Bielefeld pulled down five-or-more boards on six occasions.
