Sixth-seeded TCU hosts Cardinal in Super Regional dual on Saturday
FORT WORTH – TCU is one win away from notching its seventh straight NCAA quarterfinal berth, but to get there, must halt one of the hottest teams in college tennis.
The sixth-seeded Horned Frogs (23-5) host No. 18 Stanford (19-8) in a Super Regional dual at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU is hosting the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament for the sixth consecutive season.
The Frogs' NCAA-leading 32-match home winning streak will undoubtedly be put to the test by a Stanford squad capable of matching TCU at any position. The Cardinal upset No. 10 seed Texas A&M to set up the Sweet 16 tilt. Stanford has won seven of its last nine matches in a stretch that features a victory over top-seeded and defending NCAA champion Wake Forest.
As good as Stanford has looked of late, TCU's level is even higher, giving the match the feel of a final site affair. The Horned Frogs are the No. 6 seed in name only. Ranked second nationally, TCU has won 10 straight matches and 15 of 16 overall since the 2026 season shifted outdoors. The Horned Frogs last four wins have all been shutouts. Giving grist to TCU's dominant form, the Frogs have not lost a singles match during their winning streak.
Saturday's showcase of two of college tennis' national powers will be the 13th meeting and fourth in the last three seasons between TCU and Stanford. The Horned Frogs have won eight straight and are 9-3 all-time vs. the Cardinal. TCU shut out Stanford twice during the indoor 2025 season, including a 4-0 shutout in the semifinals of the ITA Indoor National Championships. The Horned Frogs last hosted the Cardinal on Feb. 2, 2024, with TCU claiming a 5-2 victory.
With a win, TCU faces either No. 3 Ohio State or No. 14 Illinois in the quarterfinals on May 14 in Athens, Georgia.
The match will stream live on the Cracked Racquets YouTube channel as a part of a crosscourt cast with Alex Gruskin calling the action.
