Frogs add big man from Texas Tech
FORT WORTH – TCU added another Big 12 frontcourt player in Luke Bamgboye on Sunday.
It was the second Big 12 forward the Frogs have signed in the past week after adding DJ Thomas on April 27.
Bamgboye (Bam-boy-yea) averaged 4.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 21 games last season at Texas Tech and made 12 starts. He scored in double figures three times including a season-high 13 points against New Orleans and at Iowa State where he was 6-of-7 from the field.
Following the injury to Tech All-American JT Toppin, Bamgboye started the final eight games for the Red Raiders including their two NCAA Tournament games.
Prior to Tech, the 6-11 forward averaged 3.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game at VCU. He was third in the Atlantic 10 Conference with 75 blocked shots and 2.14 blocks per game and his total blocks ranked second among all freshmen in the nation. Bamgboye earned A-10 All-Defensive Team and All-Rookie Team honors.
A native of London, United Kingdom, Bamgboye spent three years in the United States during his prep career, finishing at AZ Compass Prep in Chandler, Ariz.
Bamgboye will join recent signees Ryan Hunt, Gavin Sykes, Trent Lincoln, Miloš Šojić and DJ Thomas as newcomers for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
