No. 5 TCU picks up eighth victory in its last nine outings
FORT WORTH – Fifth-ranked TCU began the back-half of Big 12 play with a 4-0 shutout over BYU on Thursday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Horned Frogs (16-5, 4-1 Big 12) secured the doubles point in a tiebreaker on court two and posted four bagels across singles wins on courts three, five and six. TCU dropped just two sets all dual vs. the Cougars (13-6, 1-4 Big 12).
Maximus Dussault was again the Frogs' leading point earner. The freshman teamed up with Filip Apltauer for a 6-3 doubles win on court three. He then notched his second consecutive match-clincher, triumphing 6-2, 6-0 over Caden Hasler on the 6-line.
Roger Pascual was responsible for the head-turning score in TCU's penultimate regular season home affair. The lefty hung a 6-0, 6-0 double bagel on Hardy Owen in the fifth position. Pascual, from Vinaros, Spain, is the first Horned Frog to go love and love in a match since three-time All-American Jack Pinnington achieved the feat as a freshman on March 11, 2023 vs. Azuma Visaya of UCLA.
Oliver Bonding nearly went zero and zero himself, as the freshman stretched TCU's lead to 3-0 via a 6-1, 6-0 thumping of Yubel Ubri.
TCU stretched its NCAA-leading home winning streak to 29 matches with the result.
Thursday's result signified the Horned Frogs' sixth shutout of the 2026 campaign and 47th over the last four seasons.
TCU improved to 55-3 at home since 2022.
The Frogs posted their third straight win over BYU and extended their advantage in the all-time series to 11-1.
Doubles Rundown
Apltauer and Dussault's victory was routine, as they broke at 2-2 all and claimed four of the last five games in the set.
Courts one and two were surprisingly tight, however.
Bonding and Duncan Chan were ahead 4-3 and serving vs. Adam Chodur and Otto Schreiner on the 1-line but lost a deuce point and gave the break back. Moments later, Albert Pedrico and Cooper Woestendick missed out on three break point opportunities leading Tygen Goldammer and TJ Wells by an identical score on court two.
Both matches then went to tiebreakers. And for a brief spell, BYU had control, gaining 2-0 advantages on each court.
Pedrico and Woestendick promptly restored order, rattling off four straight points before finishing off a 7-6 (3) win to secure the 1-0 lead.
Chan and Bonding were down 4-5 and serving in the breaker when play was halted.
TCU picked up its 18th doubles point of the season. The Horned Frogs have now won 21 of their last 23 home doubles points since 2024.
Pedrico and Woestendick boosted their shared record to 6-1.
Apltauer continues to lead TCU in total victories on court three with seven.
