Horned Frogs fall to No. 1 Stanford and No. 9 Cal
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – On the final day of the Center of Effort Challenge, eight-ranked TCU beach volleyball fell to No. 1 Stanford and No. 9 Cal on Saturday at Swanson Beach Volleyball Courts.
MATCH ONE - No. 8 TCU 1, No. 1 Stanford 4
The day opened for TCU against the top-ranked Cardinal, and the Horned Frogs battled before eventually falling for the second time this season.
Stanford took four of the first sets, with TCU's lone first set victory leading to a sweep for Sofia Izuzquiza and Morgan Williams.
After the cardinal took Flights 1 and 2 by way of a sweep, TCU forced third sets at 3 and 5 to keep things interesting.
To clinch the match, the Cardinal prevailed 16-14 in the third set on court 3, and closed out the victory with a win at 5.

The Horned Frogs started fast but ultimately faltered in a loss to ninth-ranked Cal to close out the weekend tournament.
TCU took three of five first sets, winning at 3-5. On the two courts they lost the first set, the Horned Frog pairs got swept to face an early 2-0 deficit.
The Frogs would not go away easily, as Hannah Taylor and Melina Mol took a sweep at the 5s. Cal would force a third set at Flight 3 and 4, which they would win to cement the final score.
