Horned Frogs eye ninth straight win
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – After recently securing its eighth straight victory, the TCU women's tennis team will look to increase its win streak on Friday at 1 p.m. against West Virginia at Mountaineer Tennis Courts.
Last Sunday, TCU defeated No. 43 Arizona, 4-1. That marks the third victory over a team slotted in the ITA team rankings this season and puts the Frogs to a 2-0 start in conference play.
Among other impressive feats achieved so far this season, TCU has started out the season with an 8-1 ledger. That marks the best start for the Frogs since the 2013 dual season when the Frogs started off 12-1.
After dropping the season-opening match against Arizona State, TCU has managed to secure eight straight victories. That includes the 2-0 start in Big 12 play and a revenge win against No. 6 Arizona State. The last time the Frogs were able to string together eight consecutive triumphs was the 2016 season, when TCU pulled off nine straight wins.
Yu-Chin Tsai has been lights out in singles play, starting off the dual season with a 7-0 mark. Cayetana Gay, who has achieved a 4-0 ledger in singles, secured both the clinching points this past weekend over No. 6 Arizona State and Arizona.
Raquel Caballero Chica recently recorded a vital two-set victory and one of the highest ranked wins of her career over the 16th-ranked player nationally in the top-10 triumph over the Sun Devils.
