Frogs notch back-to-back berths in the Big Dance for first time since 2010
FORT WORTH – For the second straight season and 11th time in program history, TCU women's basketball is headed to the Big Dance.
TCU (29-5, 15-3 Big 12) was awarded a No. 3 seed in the NCAA D1 Women's Basketball Championship and faces No. 14 seed UC San Diego (24-8, 17-3 Big West) in the round of 64 on Friday at Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs were announced as a top 16 national seed on Saturday. By virtue of its selection, TCU secured hosting rights for the first and second round.
Joining TCU in Fort Worth is No. 6 seed Washington (21-10, 10-8 Big Ten) and No. 11 seed South Dakota State (27-6, 14-2 Summit League). The winners of Friday's first round games square off on Sunday for a ticket to the second weekend.
Should the Horned Frogs advance past the round of 32, they will play in the Sacramento 4 Regional at the Golden 1 Center.
The No. 3 seed is the second highest in TCU basketball history. The Horned Frogs earned a No. 2 seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. That group notched the university's first Elite Eight appearance on the hardwood and became the first TCU men's or women's basketball team to reach the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. TCU is 5-1 all-time in March Madness as the higher-seeded team.
Sunday's selection marks the first time in 16 years the Horned Frogs have earned back-to-back NCAA Tournament berths. TCU partook in the Big Dance annually from 2001-07 and made consecutive appearances in 2009 and 2010.
TCU is one of 10 programs in the 68-team field that earned a national seed in 2025 and 2026.
Mark Campbell is in the NCAA Tournament for the third time as a head coach. Campbell is one of only four coaches in the field who has spent five seasons or fewer on the bench and has notched at three NCAA Tournament berths. The others are Kim Caldwell (Tennessee), Nicki Collen (Baylor) and Shea Ralph (Vanderbilt).
Since Campbell's hire in March of 2023, TCU has tallied the seventh-most wins (84) of any program in the country. TCU ranks fifth among all teams over the last two seasons in win-loss percentage (.875) and total wins (63). The Horned Frogs will join No. 1 seeds UConn, UCLA, Texas and South Carolina and Fairleigh Dickinson, whom they defeated in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, as one of only six programs to post back-to-back 30-win campaigns with a victory in the first round.
TCU garnered its No. 3 seed on the strength of a second consecutive undisputed Big 12 regular season championship and 10 wins over NCAA Tournament participants. The Horned Frogs are the only repeat outright Power Conference regular season champions in the field.
Nine members of TCU's 14-player roster have competed in March Madness at least once. The nine players have appeared in a combined 37 NCAA Tournament games; Taylor Bigby (10), Donovyn Hunter (8), Olivia Miles (6), Aaliyah Roberson (4), Maddie Scherr (3), Clara Silva (2), Natalie Mazurek (2), Marta Suarez (1) and Veronica Sheffey (1).
The Big 12 placed eight teams in the bracket. West Virginia also earned hosting rights for the opening rounds as a No. 4 seed. Baylor was awarded a No. 6 seed while Texas Tech garnered a No. 7 seed. Oklahoma State and Iowa State were placed on the 8-seed line. Arizona State slid in as a No. 11 seed to round out the conference contingent.
All-session and single-session tickets for first and second round games at Schollmaier Arena are on sale now and can be purchased online on GoFrogs.com or by calling the TCU Ticket Office at (817) 257-3764.
