Horned Frogs win eighth straight match
FORT WORTH – The impressive start to the season for the TCU women's tennis team continues, as the Frogs move their record to 8-1 after a 4-1 victory over Arizona on Sunday afternoon at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
After dropping the doubles point, TCU (8-1, 2-0 Big 12) was able to rattle off three straight singles victories to take down the Wildcats. This marks the third victory over a team slotted in the ITA team rankings and puts the Frogs to a 2-0 start in conference play.
Among other impressive feats achieved so far this season, TCU has started out the season with an 8-1 ledger. That marks the best start for the Frogs since the 2013 dual season when the Frogs started off 12-1.
After dropping the season-opening match against Arizona State, TCU has managed to secure eight straight victories. That includes a 2-0 start in Big 12 play and a revenge win against No. 6 Arizona State. The last time the Frogs were able to string together eight consecutive triumphs was the 2016 season, when TCU pulled off nine straight wins.
DOUBLES RUNDOWN
TCU lost the doubles point for only the second time this season on Sunday against the Wildcats. The Frogs were unable to mount comebacks on the top two courts and lost the early advantage to the Wildcats.
Court two was the first to finish, as Raquel Caballero Chica and Jennifer Jackson fell to Arizona's Josie Usereau and Maria Garcia, 6-1.
Yu-Chin Tsai and Victoria Gomez O'Hayon were unable to get it done on the No. 1 doubles court, dropping the match to Zoya Chulak and Ciara Moore, 6-3.
Tomi Main and Cayetana Gay were in a 4-4 battle on the third court before their match went unfinished as Arizona captured the early 1-0 lead.

Order of Finish: 2, 1
SINGLES RUNDOWN
With their backs against the wall for the first time since the season opener, TCU was able to flip the switch and find a way to respond with authority in singles action.
Tsai continued her undefeated streak in singles play, defeating Garcia, 6-3, 6-1 to even the score at 1-1. This marks the seniors seventh straight dual singles win to open the season for a perfect record of 7-0.
Cristina Ramos Sierra would join in on the fun, fending off a comeback effort in set two by Moore to grab a 6-3, 7-6(1) victory to take the lead.
Jackson would put the Frogs one point away from clinching after defeating Tanvi Narendran, 6-4, 7-5.
For the second match in a row, Gay would come through on court six and provide the clinching point for TCU. The sophomore took down Zoya Chulak, 7-5, 4-6, to secure the eighth straight win for the Frogs.
