Frogs to compete seven times in buildup to NCAA Individual Championships
FORT WORTH – The Horned Frogs' return to the competitive college hardcourts is imminent, as TCU men's tennis head coach David Roditi announced the program's 2025 fall schedule.
TCU has seven invitationals on the docket, beginning with the Battle in the Bay Classic on Sept. 11-14 in San Francisco, Calif. The autumn slate culminates with the NCAA Individual Championships, held from Nov. 18-23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The NCAA Individual Championships are taking place at the conclusion of the fall season for the second straight year as a part of a pilot program with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The singles and doubles fields are determined by a quartet of championship events, three of which TCU will participate in.
TCU has its first crack at sending athletes to the Sunshine State at the ITA All-American Championships on Sept. 20-28 in Tulsa, Okla. From there, 10 singles players and four doubles teams will punch their national championship tickets.
Following the trek north, the Frogs have two more chances at qualifying athletes to Orlando, first at the ITA Texas Regional on Oct. 15-19 in College Station. Both singles finalists and the doubles earn spots in the NCAA Championship bracket. TCU's penultimate fall event is the ITA Central Sectional Championships on Nov. 6-9 in Ann Arbor, Mich., where players will battle for six singles spots and three doubles entries.
Sprinkled between the NCAA Championship buildup are two invitationals.
Overlapping with the ITA All-American Championships is a visit to Wisconsin to partake in the prestigious Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Sept. 25-28. Now in its 49th year of existence, the ITA-certified event routinely draws the nation's top-rated men's and women's players to the Midwest.
The following week, TCU and Roditi will travel a select group south of the border for the U.S. College Cup Invitational on Oct. 3-5 in Torreon, Mexico. The tournament was incepted by Roditi in 2023 in the spirit of increasing youth participation in the sport and international interest in college tennis. The affair utilizes hidden dual play and is designed to give younger or developing players an opportunity to play multiple matches.
TCU is opening its season at the Battle in the Bay Classic for the eighth straight year. Program alumni Alex Rybakov and Jake Fearnley won the singles championship in 2018 and 2022 while fellow All-American Lui Maxted was a finalist last fall.
The Horned Frogs received the ultimate reward in the first iteration of the new look fall format in 2024. Maxted and Pedro Vives won the NCAA Doubles Championship and achieved All-American status in singles.
TCU returns seven letter winners from a 2024-25 squad that finished as the national runner-up at both the ITA Indoor National Championships and NCAA Championships and won an undisputed Big 12 regular season title. The Horned Frogs also welcome two newcomers ahead of Roditi's 16th season at the helm of his alma mater.
The dual portion of the 2025-26 schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
