TCU tallied 258 yards rushing with a pair of scores.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina (0-1) tallied 83 yards on their first offensive drive of the game to take a 7-0 lead, and then TCU (1-0) went on to dominate the remaining 56 minutes of play, outgaining the Tar Heels 542 to 222 in front of a sell-out crowd and prime time national audience on ESPN for a 48-14 victory.
TCU quarterback Josh Hoover led the way for the Horned Frogs passing attack, going 27-36 for 284 yards and a pair of passing touchdowns scores. But, after an offseason of questions about TCU's ground game, it was the play of the offensive line and running backs that stole the show away from the head coach occupying the opposing sideline.
Kevorian Barnes, in his first start as a Frog, gained 113 yards on the ground, including a 75-yard touchdown rush, as part of a 35-carry, 258-yard day on the ground for TCU. TCU averaged 7.4 yards per carry.
Defensively, the Frogs made a statement of their own by adding two defensive touchdowns by Bud Clark (interception return) and Devean Deal (fumble return). Following their opening drive, North Carolina managed just 15 yards on 17 plays for the remainder of the half as TCU outgained the hosts 247-103 in the first half.
After both teams exchanged punts on the subsequent possessions, Hoover found Dwyer for a 27-yard touchdown to put TCU on the board for the first time in 2025 with 4:08 remaining in the first quarter.
It was all Frogs from there.
