FORT WORTH – TCU will participate in the Coretta Scott King Classic on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 19, 2026 with the Horned Frogs facing Ohio State at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
The game is a part of a doubleheader event and will air nationally on FOX. TCU and Ohio State will tip the ball at 11 a.m. CT, followed by a tilt between Michigan and Vanderbilt at 2:30 p.m.
The Coretta Scott King Classic honors the legacy and values of the King family while celebrating female empowerment in sports. The event, which began in 2024, is the first time the names of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King have been licensed for a sporting event.
"We are honored to be included in this event," said TCU head coach Mark Campbell. "Coretta Scott King and her family have left a profound impact on the world in their commitment to civil rights and social justice. Playing these games is a special way to celebrate their legacy. Competing on the national stage on FOX against an elite Ohio State program is an amazing opportunity. This will be a great test for our team as we prepare for March."
TCU received its first over-the-air telecast selection for a regular season game with FOX Sports serving as broadcast partner. The Horned Frogs competed on a national broadcast network for the first time in March during the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The Frogs earned a 71-62 victory over Notre Dame in a game that was featured on ABC.
January's game marks the first-ever matchup between TCU and Ohio State on the hardwood.
TCU's invitation to the Coretta Scott King Classic affirms its newfound status as a college basketball power. The Horned Frogs have improved their year-over win total by 26 games – the largest increase of any D1 program – over the last two years. Last season, TCU swept the Big 12 regular season and tournament championships, earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and enjoyed a run to the Elite Eight.
Ahead of Campbell's third season at the helm, the Frogs return five letterwinners from a 2024-25 squad that won a school record 34 games and finished No. 6 in the final AP Top 25. TCU also welcomes nine newcomers, a group that includes three-time All-American Olivia Miles, 6-7 center Clara Silva and a pair of all-conference players in stretch forward Marta Suarez and guard Veronica Sheffey.
Tickets for the Coretta Scott King Classic are on sale now via Prucenter.com, Ticketmaster.com, and the Prudential Center Box Office.
Season ticket renewals for the 2025-26 TCU women's basketball season are ongoing and single-game general admission sales will be made available soon. Contact TCU Ticket Sales at 817-257-1849 for more information.
