Frogs record best finish in program history
LAWRENCE, Kan. – TCU concluded competition at the 2025 Big 12 Outdoor Championships, seeing four Horned Frogs win conference titles and a third-place finish on the women's side, its best in program history, on Saturday at Rock Chalk Park.
With 86 total points, the TCU women finished third as a team, finishing only behind Texas Tech (127 points) and BYU (112.5 points). The Frogs scored points in eight different events, including 20 in the 100m dash, 19 in the javelin throw and 16 in the 200m. Freshman Indya Mayberry was responsible for 20 of the team's points, winning gold in both sprint events. The men also made waves at the conference meet, finishing sixth overall with 64 points, tied for their second-best performance in school history (fifth in 2018).
Mayberry won two of the Frogs' four conference titles, sweeping the 100m and 200m races. Sprinter Kashie Crockett put together his best 200m of the season to win the men's race, and Llyod Frilot added the outdoor 800m title to his resume. Combined with Thursday's javelin performance, TCU took home six individual Big 12 Conference Championships. The Frogs also brought home one silver medal, six bronze medals and earned a combined 19 All-Big 12 Honors.
Damilare Olukosi started the day off for the Frogs with a bronze medal showing in the triple jump. The junior leaped 15.80m (51-10) on his fifth attempt to place third and score six points for the men.
Pole vaulters Benjamin Kirbo and Reese Pokluda continued the scoring for the men in the field events. The duo earned All-Big 12 honors, placing seventh and eighth, respectively. Kirbo cleared 5.41m, while Pokluda jumped a personal best 5.21m.
TCU kicked off action on the track with the 4x100m relays. The men's squad of Coulaj Eans, Crockett, Jordan Parker and Sanjay Salmon placed fourth in 39.77 to earn a spot on the podium. Teanna Harlin, Iyana Gray, London Tucker and Mayberry took home silver and eight points for the women with a time of 43.09.
In the women's 100m hurdles, Amari Kiluvia ran a lifetime best 13.10 to win a bronze. She shaved off 0.13 from her prelims run and improved her second fastest time in program history.
Ronnie Kendrick scored four points for the men with a fifth-place result in the 400m. The true freshman went toe-to-toe with the top athletes in the conference, finishing less than half a second behind the leader to earn All-Big 12 Honors.
The Frogs really made their move in the team standings in the 100m dash. Mayberry continued her sprint dominance, winning the event title in 11.03, breaking the school record held by Jessica Young (11.12, 2011). She took the top spot by two hundredths of a second over Baylor All-American Alexis Brown. Her teammate, Iyana Gray took bronze in the event with a time of 11.15 to win her second straight Big 12 medal (silver in 2024). Freshman London Tucker rounded out the scoring with an 11.36 in fifth place in her first conference championship final.
Frilot put the conference on notice in the 800m. With the indoor title already under his belt this season, the senior won the race outdoors with a gutsy performance down the final straightaway, passing the two race leaders to claim the title undisputed 800m champion.
In the 400m hurdles, Jayden Douglas and Amelliah Birdow broke their own school record to win bronze. Douglas shaved off just over a tenth of a second, running a 49.87, the 13th fastest performance in the NCAA this season. For Birdow, she came in just under her own school record time of 56.17 with a 56.11. She now owns the 12th fastest time in the country this season. Tia Williams also raced in the final, posting a 58.74 to earn all-conference honors and take home a point for the women.
Senior Crockett took the 200m field by surprise, winning gold. The indoor bronze medalist and All-American in the event got off to a great start and edged out Iowa State's Mikey McClain by one-thousandth of a second at 20.401 to 20.402.
On the women's side, Mayberry once again stole the show, taking home the top spot with a school record of 22.47. It marks the seventh fastest run in the nation this season and helped her sweep the sprint events. Also running in the final was Gray, who placed third overall with a strong 22.91.
After a three-hour lightning delay, both of the Frogs' 4x400m relay squads battled it out on the track. The men's team of Kendrick, Douglas, Frilot and Destin Drummond placed fifth overall with a time of 3:05.67. Racing with third place up in the air in the team standings, TCU edged out Baylor in the women's 4x400m race to hold off the Bears by 1.5 points. Williams, Birdow, Gray and Bryce Brazzell collected five points and a fourth-place finish in 3:34.63 to conclude the championship meet.
