Eans and Kirbo Medal; Six Frogs Advanced to Finals

TUCSON, Ariz. –TCU's Coulaj Eans and Ben Kirbo earned podium finishes and six Frogs secured spots in the finals on Day Two of the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.
The duo recorded top-eight results in the long jump and pole vault, respectively, contributing valuable points to the men's team total. Eans only needed one jump, flying a season-best 7.39m (24-3) in the long jump to place eighth. Kirbo, one of the most decorated pole vaulters in TCU history, added another set of All-Conference honors to his resume. The senior cleared 5.23m (17-1¾) and finished fifth overall.
On the track, the Frogs set themselves up for a strong last day of the championship meet. Six more student-athletes punched their tickets to the finals in their respective events.
After earning bids in the 1500m on Thursday, Mohamed Kowa and Georgia Scott added another event to their schedule for Saturday. The middle-distance duo secured spots in the 800m races, both winning their preliminary heats. Kowa (1:47.20) used his long strides to power his way to the front in the final 200m, while Scott (2:03.29) led wire-to-wire in her heat.
In the men's 400m, teammates Ronnie Kendrick and Evander Thomas advanced to the finals. Running in lane 8, Thomas was unphased by the competition. The sophomore won his heat with a personal-best 45.86. Kendrick finished second in his heat; however, his time of 45.58.
Finally, in the women's 100m dash, Indya Mayberry and Bailey Johnson got into the final. Racing her first 100m of the outdoor season, Mayberry posted a 11.27, while Johnson snuck into the final position in 11.48.
