FORT WORTH – TCU's Sofia Izuzquiza and Allanis Navas have been named the AVCA/CBVB National Pair of the Week after their dominant weekend at the Death Volley Invitational.
This marks the first time in 2025 a Horned Frog pair has won the award and the first time since Hailey Hamlett and Anhelina Khmil won the honor in March of 2024.
The duo remains undefeated at 10-0 this season, having dropped only one set all season.
At the Death Volley Invitational the tandem went 3-0 with all wins coming against ranked competition. On Friday, the pair took down No. 4 Stanford's Belardi/Hoffman, 21-17, 21-15. They ended the day with a win over No. 9 Long Beach State's Westby/Carrington with a score of 22-20, 21-16. In a battle between No. 1 and No. 2 on Saturday, Izuzquiza and Navas rolled over No. 1 UCLA's Bowder/Alden. They took a narrow first set, 23-21 before running away with the second set, 21-8.
Izuzquiza, in her first collegiate season, has already secured 13 ranked wins. Navas now holds 97 career victories, including 53 against ranked opponents.
Individually, Izuzquiza stands at 15-3 this season, while Navas boasts a 16-2 record.
The Frogs are riding a 13-match winning streak, dating back to March 7.
