Horned Frogs face Baylor on Sunday for Big 12 regular season championship
FORT WORTH – No. 10 TCU spun a perfect senior night script and set the stage for the most anticipated Big 12 basketball game in school history.
The Horned Frogs throttled Houston, 91-56, on Wednesday in their final regular season friendly at Schollmaier Arena.
TCU (27-3, 15-2 Big 12) honored seven graduating players following the final horn. The septet combined for 74 points, with Hailey Van Lith netting a game-high 26.
With the win, TCU will battle No. 17 Baylor (25-6, 15-2 Big 12) at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday in Waco for the undisputed Big 12 Championship. Baylor has won the league in 13 of the last 19 seasons. The Horned Frogs will go for their first conference championship in 20 years and the university's first Big 12 basketball title.
TCU finished undefeated at home for just the second time in its 48-season history with the result. The Frogs won all 19 of their home games in the 2024-25 regular season. TCU is enjoying a 22-game home winning streak, the longest in the Big 12.
Wednesday's tilt billed itself as the ultimate trap game. Last-place Houston (5-23, 1-16 Big 12) sandwiched itself between the de facto conference championship game and an emotional 71-50 triumph over No. 17 West Virginia three days earlier.
The Horned Frogs did not afford even so much as a thought of a close contest.
TCU scored the first nine points of the ballgame and closed the first half on a 20-2 run spanning the final 5:56.
The Frogs knocked down 10-16 attempts from long range in the on their way to a 52-21 halftime lead. TCU finished 7-9 from distance in the second quarter.
Van Lith tallied 20 points in the first half. She converted 4-5 looks behind the arc and was 7-9 from the field.
The Lieberman Award finalist had as many first half field goals as Houston, whom TCU held to 26 percent shooting (7-29).
Madison Conner drilled a trio of first half 3-pointers while Sedona Prince added eight points.
Conner scored 15 points for the game via five 3-pointers while Prince came one rebound shy of recording a double-double, finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds.
TCU maintained its 30-point lead over the third and fourth quarters. All 13 active players entered the game.
Deasia Merrill added nine points and six rebounds across 13 minutes off the bench. Fellow seniors Agnes Emma-Nnopu (6 rebounds, 5 points) and Una Jovanovic (6 points, 3 assists) also enjoyed extended time on the hardwood.
TCU dished out 22 assists against eight turnovers.
Houston played the game with just seven active players. The Cougars were led by 25 points from guard Gia Cooke.
