
Van Lith Scores 26 in Rout of No. 17 West Virginia

No. 10 TCU handles Mountaineers 71-50, earns fifth ranked win of 2024-25
FORT WORTH – TCU took a major step toward a conference title and hosting the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.
The 10th-ranked Horned Frogs routed No. 17 West Virginia, 71-50, before 5,897 fans in on Sunday at Schollmaier Arena.
Hailey Van Lith and Sedona Prince combined for 46 points in a game TCU (26-3, 14-2 Big 12) led for all-but-four minutes. The Frogs raced to a 39-20 halftime lead and never allowed the Mountaineers to get within single digits. TCU held West Virginia to season-lows in total points, first half points and field goal percentage (.305, 18-59).
The win was TCU's fifth over a ranked team in 2024-25. TCU maintained a tie for first in the Big 12 standings with No. 19 Baylor with two regular season games remaining. The Bears visit No. 12 Kansas State on Monday. Should Baylor lose, TCU will play for a share of its first Big 12 basketball championship when it hosts Houston in its final home game on Wednesday.
TCU set program records for total wins, Big 12 wins and home wins (18) with the result. The Horned Frogs also extended their home winning streak to 21 games, a run that tops the Big 12.
Van Lith led all scorers with 26 points on 8-12 shooting. She scored eight unanswered midway through the fourth that gave TCU its largest lead of the afternoon at 65-43 with 4:22 to go.
Prince nearly netted a triple-double, finishing with 20 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks. She is the only player in the nation to finish with six-or-more blocks in multiple games vs. AP Top 25 teams this season.
Agnes Emma-Nnopu led all players with 10 rebounds as TCU finished with a 42-27 edge on the glass vs. the Mountaineers (21-6, 11-5 Big 12).
Madison Conner dished out a game-high six assists.
TCU withstood West Virginia's pressing zone early. The Mountaineers force an average of 25 turnovers per game, but TCU gave the ball away just six times.
Donovyn Hunter and Van Lith drained back-to-back 3-pointers to put TCU up 20-9 after one. TCU closed the first quarter on a 12-2 run and converted its final four attempts from the field.
West Virginia briefly crawled within five points of the Frogs, scoring five of the first seven to begin the second frame. Back-to-back buckets midway through the period by Conner restored TCU's double-digit advantage at 28-17 with four minutes remaining. Van Lith bookended a 9-1 Horned Frogs run to close the half with a fast break layup and a 3-pointer on TCU's final possession.
Van Lith entered the locker room with 14 points while Prince tallied 10 points, five rebound and five blocks.
TCU connected at a 53 percent clip from the field (16-30) in the first half and limited West Virginia to 9-27 shooting.
Prince took over in the third, scoring eight points on the strength of a pair of and-one finishes to keep TCU in front by 16 entering the final frame.
The Horned Frogs held West Virginia without a field goal for 4:24 as Van Lith iced the game with her solo 8-0 run.
TCU racked up 47 points in the paint and at the foul line.
West Virginia shot just 3-18 from behind the arc. TCU limited leading scorers JJ Quinerly (19.4 ppg) and Jordan Harrison (13.4 ppg) to just 24 points combined.
TCU committed the second-fewest turnovers (18) of any team in Big 12 play vs. the Mountaineers' defense.

The Horned Frogs will finish undefeated at home for just the second time in program history and win a win over Houston (5-22, 1-15 Big 12) on Wednesday. TCU last ran the table at home in 2008-09, when the Frogs finished 15-0 inside Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
TCU will also host its senior night celebration before or after tipoff and honor seven graduating players; Madison Conner, Agnes Emma-Nnopu, Una Jovanovic, Deasia Merrill, Sedona Prince, DaiJa Turner and Hailey Van Lith.
Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN+.

- TCU's 21-point win was the second-largest margin of victory over a ranked team in program history and one of two AP Top 25 wins of more than 20 points.
