
Rifle Set For Match Against West Virginia

Both teams enter weekend ranked in the Top 5
FORT WORTH – Another Top 5 battle is on tap for the women's rifle team as No. 4 TCU heads to Fort Wayne, Ind. for a match against No. 3 West Virginia. Action at The X Count Range is set to begin at 8 a.m. (CT).
Making the journey to compete will be Marissa Fedora, Micah Hames, Christina Hillinger, Mikole Hogan, Mackenzie Kring and Rylie Passmore. The Horned Frogs will be without two of its regular counters as Alexandra Rosenlew and Katie Zaun are in Cairo, Egypt competing at the ISSF World Championships.
TCU enters the weekend holding the top three-score average in the NCAA at 4,744.00, while the Mountaineers come in at three with an average of 4,743.33.
Overall, both teams rank in the Top 4 nationally in both disciplines and aggregate average this season. West Virginia (2,385.25) sits second in air rifle, while TCU is third (2,384.33). In smallbore, the Mountaineers are third (2,353.25) while the Frogs are fourth (2,352.67). The two teams are neck and neck in aggregate average, with WVU holding a 4,738.50-4,737.00 advantage.
Five of TCU's six shooters traveling to the match rank in the top 50 nationally in air rifle season average. Kring is second on the squad with tha 595.50 average followed closely by Hogan with a 595.33. Passmore has had a strong season with an average of 595.00. Hillinger shot a 598, her best air rifle score of the season, last weekend, raising her season average to 594.00. Hames has a season average of 592.00.
Despite missing its top two smallbore shooters this weekend, TCU will still boast a formidable group of shooters. Fedora sits 18thnationally with a season average of 587.60. Twice she has eclipsed the 590 plateau this season. Passmore has eclipsed the 585 mark in four of six matches this season. Hogan has put together a strong last four matches, averaging a 589.00 over those matches. Hillinger has put up season-highs in smallbore in each of her last two outings.
The Mountaineers are led by Griffin Lake in both disciplines. He leads the squad with a 591.33 season average in smallbore and a 599.00 average in air rifle.
