FORT WORTH – TCU Frog Club has announced the hiring of Cedric James as Associate Athletics Director / Director of the Block T Association.
Cedric James, a proud TCU alumnus and former NFL player, will oversee donor engagement, membership growth and operations for the Block T Association, including administration of the TCU Athletics Hall of Fame.
"We're thrilled to welcome Cedric back to TCU Athletics," said TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Mike Buddie. "He understands the rigor, commitment and pride required to compete at the highest levels, and his leadership will ensure the Block T Association continues to honor the accomplishments of our former athletes while advancing the mission of our department."
"Cedric embodies what it means to be a Horned Frog: dedication, resilience and a deep commitment to building community," said Alex Yack, TCU's Deputy Athletics Director for Development. "His unique perspective as both a former student-athlete and campus leader will strengthen the connection between our letter winners and TCU. We're excited to see his vision come to life as he leads the Block T Association into its next chapter."
James has spent nearly 15 years serving the university through teaching, mentorship and program leadership. Most recently, he served as Director of Student Engagement at the Neeley School of Business, where he led initiatives that connected students, alumni and community partners through innovation, leadership and entrepreneurship. A two-time graduate of TCU, he also teaches courses on life design, innovation and leadership.
A former Horned Frog wide receiver, James played professionally in the National Football League before returning to TCU to focus on education and community service. His leadership and service have been recognized across campus, including receiving the Charley & Kate Thorp Award for Advancing Community.
"It's an incredible honor to return home to TCU Athletics, a place that shaped so much of who I am, both on and off the field," James said. "As a first-generation college student and former Horned Frog athlete, I'm deeply grateful for the mentors, coaches and alumni who helped open doors for me. In this role, I hope to build on that legacy by connecting and celebrating our letter winners while inspiring future generations to carry forward the spirit and pride of TCU Athletics."
"I have so many ideas and can't wait to get started serving our letter winners and supporters of TCU Athletics," James added. "The Block T Association represents family, tradition and lifelong connection, and I'm committed to strengthening those ties through meaningful engagement, new opportunities and a shared vision that keeps Horned Frogs united for years to come."
During his time as a student-athlete, James played under Coach Mark Tommerdahl, with T. Ross Bailey serving as head trainer, Mike Sinquefield as equipment manager and Gisele Kates as Executive Administrator. "There are so many familiar faces here," James said. "It truly feels like coming back home to family."
A native of Fort Worth and a Mansfield, Texas resident, James has been married to his high school sweetheart, Myriah, for 21 years. They have four children — Averie, Camryn, Axton, and Kingston — and a Yorkie named Isla.
