IRVING, Texas – For the second time this season, sophomore outside hitter Evan Hendrix was tabbed Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Hendrix led the Big 12 with 7.19 points per set and 6.63 kills per set on the week, amassing 53 total kills over the span of two matches. She also ranked second nationally in both categories as well.
Her offensive presence on the court was key in helping the Horned Frogs pick up a pair of conference victories to continue No. 10 TCU's best start to Big 12 play (6-1) in school history. This season, Hendrix and the Frogs are 10-0 on their home court and have won 18 straight matches in Schollmaier Arena.
Against Cincinnati (Oct. 15), Hendrix totaled 26 kills on a .297 clip and added 12 digs. Two days later, she racked up 27 kills on 76 swings and posted a career-high 23 digs in the win over Kansas State (Oct. 17). Registering double-double performances in both contests, the Scottsdale, Arizona, native has finished with at least 10 kills and digs in each of her last nine matches.
Since 2000, only three players in TCU history have recorded 20+ kills and 20+ digs in the same match. Hendrix joins Jalyn Gibson (21 kills & 23 digs against No. 18 Minnesota on Sept. 7, 2024) and Melanie Parra (22 kills & 21 digs at Kansas State on Sept. 22, 2023) as the only players to accomplish the feat.
It marks the second career weekly Big 12 honor for Hendrix. Earlier this season, she was named offensive player of the week after tallying a career-high 32 kills against No. 23 Missouri.
Hendrix and No. 10 TCU are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at No. 14 Kansas. First serve is set for 6 p.m. CT on FS1.
