
TCU Women Finish Fifth at Big 12 Championships

It’s the highest-ever finish for the program in TCU’s Big 12 Era
WACO, Texas – Iyana Gray's three silver medals in the sprints highlighted a successful final day of the Big 12 Outdoor Championships on Saturday in Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium.
The women's team had the best finish at a championship meet in TCU's Big 12 Era. The Horned Frogs scored the most points ever at the Big 12 Championships (64) en route to a program-high fifth place.
Gray was named the High Point Performer of the Meet as she recorded a meet-leading 18 points across three events. She is the first Horned Frog to ever win the High Point award at an outdoor conference championship. Overall, Gray is the first to win the women's High Point honor since Jessica Young in 2011 at the Mountain West Indoor Championships.
The men's team finished tied for 11th with 24 points.
Gray shined in her second Big 12 Outdoor Championships. The junior finished second in the 100m with her time of 11.24, improving on her No. 5 time in TCU history. Gray followed it up with a second-place finish in the 200m with her time of 22.81.
She also anchored the second place 4x100 relay. Her, Teanna Harlin, Mikayla Hayes and Dreunna Washington clocked a season-best 43.43 to claim silver.
In the women's 400m hurdles, Amelliah Birdow took bronze, breaking her own school record in the process with her time of 56.44. Tia Williams (56.63) finished fourth as well, giving TCU 11 team points.
Birdow and Williams were also key members of TCU's 4x400 relay. The two, along with Samarra Monrroy and Kelaiah Daniyan, finished fourth with their time of 3:35.31.
Gracie Morris broke her own school record in the 1500m with her time of 4:10.35. She finished fifth overall in the finals.
Joining her with a fifth-place finish was Ryan Martin (800m). His personal-best time of 1:47.81 was the seventh-fastest time in program history. Additionally, Lloyd Frilot's 1:48.18 earned him seventh, the eighth-fastest time in TCU history.
The men's 4x100 team of Jais Smith, Kashie Crockett, Jayden Douglas and David Seete finished sixth with their season-best time of 39.91.
Samarra Monrroy clocked a huge personal best 52.59 in the 400m to finish seventh. On the men's side, David Seete's 45.94 also earned him seventh.
In the women's discus, Samantha Callaway medaled for a second-straight season. She took eighth with her season-best throw of 50.19m (164-8).
TCU's 4x400 relay squad of Jayden Douglas, David Seete, Giovouni Henry and Lloyd Frilot finished eighth with their time of 3:09.03.
