All Three Horned Frog Freshmen Earn Wins
FORT WORTH - No. 3 TCU made quick work of its in-state and Big 12 foe Texas Tech, winning 4-0 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
TCU won the doubles point with wins on courts two and three then clinched the match with consecutive singles shutouts at six, four and two.
All three of TCU's freshmen tallied a win. The Horned Frogs dropped just one set all dual.
TCU improved to 44-6 all time and collected its 11th straight win vs. the Red Raiders.
The Horned Frogs improved to 18-3 overall and 4-2 in league play.
Doubles Rundown
Duncan Chan and Lui Maxted, the 70th ranked pair in the latest ITA rankings, earned their 12th win of 2024 with a 6-3 takedown of Texas Tech's Reed Collier and Takeyasu Sekiguchi, 6-3, on court two.
Tomas Jirousek and Kaj Quirijns then clinched the doubles point for the Horned Frogs on court three. The tandem ousted Niksa Arsic and Olle Wallin of Texas Tech in a 7-5 battle. Jirousek and Quirijns have now won four doubles matches in a row while Quirijns moves to 6-0 in 2024.

Singles Rundown
TCU won five of the first six sets in singles play, firmly putting Texas Tech (8-14, 0-6 Big 12) on its heels.
Julian Alonso was the first Horned Frog to finish. Alonso, a freshman from Barcelona, won in straight sets on court six over Takyasu Sekiguchi via a 6-0, 6-2 margin. Alonso improved to 3-1 in duals and 2-1 vs. Big 12 opposition with the win.
On court four, Jirousek gave the Horned Frogs a 3-0 advantage, hanging consecutive 6-2 frames on Piotr Pawlak. Jirousek has now won four of his last five matches.
Vives clinched the match for the Horned Frogs for the fourth time this season. The ITA No. 54 singles player, Vives defeated Texas Tech's Reed Collier 6-4, 6-4. Vives was the lone Horned Frog to go 2-0 in singles play this week.
