Horned Frogs down Mustangs 4-1 in Dallas; improve to 19-3 ahead of regular season finale
DALLAS - No. 3 TCU overpowered 40th-ranked SMU to a tune of a 4-1 win on Thursday afternoon at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Center.
After surrounding the doubles point, TCU took the opening frame in singles on all six courts and cruised to the win with consecutive sweeps on two, one, three and five, with Duncan Chan earning the match-clincher.
"We always play for the skillet, right?" said head coach David Roditi. "This rivalry goes back many, many years, and now it stays in Fort Worth. We knew it was going to be an absolute battle. Every team is facing a lot of adversity this time of the year, so just need to go compete. What Jack Pinnington was able to do against SMU's No. 1 singles player is very impressive, and Lui and Pedro played one of the cleanest matches all year. Our guys overcame losing doubles on the road, and we won four singles matches, so really proud of them. Go Frogs!"
