As the only Horned Frog to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, Iyana Gray had an exceptional season. She recorded two personal bests this season (60m, 200m) and capped it off as a two-time scorer at the Big 12 Indoor Championships.
At the Big 12 Indoor Championships, Gray shattered her own school record in the 200m to place first. She won the program's first-ever title in the 200m in TCU's Big 12 Era with her winning time of 22.71. In the 60m finals, she also placed sixth with her time of 7.31.
Her time of 22.71 earned her the No. 9 seed at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Gray kicked off the season at the McFerrin-12 Degree Invitational in College Station, Texas (Jan. 13). She placed third in both the 60m with her time of 7.33 and the 4x400 with a 3:44.04 in the finals.
The next week at the Corky Classic, Gray earned second place in the 200m (23.02) and fifth in the 60m (7.32). She kicked off competition in February with a third-place finish as a member of the 4x400 relay and a fifth-place finish in the 200m at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
At the Jarvis Scott Open, Gray set her first PR of the season when she ran a 7.26 in the 60m and placed third – good for the second-best indoor mark in TCU history. She also ran a then-personal best time of 22.98 in the 200m to break the school record and finish second.
Since joining TCU, Gray has also been a two-time Big 12 OTF Medalist and was crowned TCU's first-ever Penn Relays 100m Champion.
Gray is in her second season with the Horned Frogs after transferring to TCU after her freshman season from UT-Arlington. She was crowned the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Freshman of the Year. She also earned Honorable Mention All-American honors as a member of UTA's 4x100 team at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
