
Horned Frogs Drop Home Tilt to Kansas

TCU falls 81-74; Harris tallies 22 points in defeat
FORT WORTH – TCU's competitive fight nearly carried it to a second straight stunning home victory but the Horned Frogs came a few stops short of stymying Kansas on Saturday.
The Jayhawks closed the Big 12 bout on a 13-5 run to steal an 81-74 win from the Horned Frogs in Schollmaier Arena.
Kansas (12-10, 5-6 Big 12) connected at a 51 percent clip (28-55) from the field and outscored TCU 24-13 in the fourth quarter.
A floater from Una Jovanovic inched TCU ahead 69-68 with 4:58 to go. Kansas scored on four straight possessions over the ensuing 90 seconds to assume a 76-71 lead. TCU (15-6, 2-8 Big 12) managed just two field goals the rest of the way.
Sydney Harris tallied a TCU career-high 22 points on 7-14 shooting. Harris canned five 3-pointers between the second and third frames.
Harris' proficiency from behind the arc willed TCU to a 61-57 advantage entering the fourth period. TCU knocked down 11-23 looks (48 percent) from distance over the first 30 minutes. Nine of TCU's 3-pointers came in the first half. The Horned Frogs were held without a deep ball in the fourth quarter.
Agnes Emma-Nnopu finished with 18 points and a team-leading eight rebounds. Aaliyah Roberson and Una Jovanovic added 10 points apiece to give TCU four double-digit scorers.
Tara Manumaleuga led all players with eight assists. Jovanovic dished out seven dimes against zero turnovers.
Kansas assumed a 10-4 head start entering the first quarter media timeout. Triples by Jovanovic and Roberson dwindled the deficit to two points following the opening 10 minutes.
Consecutive 3-pointers from Harris on the Horned Frogs' first two possessions in the second quarter staked the squad to its first lead of the evening at 20-16. TCU canned a half-dozen 3-pointers in the frame – four of which came from Harris – and led for more than six minutes in the quarter. A 9-0 Jayhawks run staked the visitors to a 37-34 halftime edge.
The Horned Frogs enjoyed an 18-8 extended scoring run in the middle portion of the third quarter.
Kansas' S'Mya Nichols matched Harris for the game-high in scoring with 22 points. She netted 10 in the fourth quarter to spark the Jayhawks' rally.
TCU assisted on 92 percent of its buckets. The Horned Frogs recorded 23 assists over a 25-57 (44 percent) mark from the field.
Kansas outrebounded a TCU squad that effectively played with six scholarship players 36-25. The Jayhawks scored 42 of their points in the paint.
