Match marks the end of the regular season
FORT WORTH – The No. 2 TCU women's rifle team will head to Air Force on Saturday for the NCAA Qualifier. The score will be used in determining the eight teams that will advance to the NCAA Championships in March. Sighting for the match will begin at 10 a.m. (CT).
TCU currently sits second in the NCAA team standings with a three-score average of 4,741.67. The NCAA qualifier will count as 50% of the qualification score for the championships.
On the season, TCU has been one of the most dominate squads in the NCAA. The Horned Frogs sit second nationally in aggregate average at 4,733. TCU leads the country in air rifle average at 2,383.54 and is second in smallbore average at 2,349.46.
Stephanie Grundsoee and Katie Zaun have been forces on the firing line this season. They rank second and third, respectively, with aggregate averages of 1,188.32 and 1,188.00. Stephanie Allan and Jeanne Haverhill have been consistent all season long, contributing averages of 1,178.46 and 1,178.46, respectively. Mikole Hogan is right behind with a season average of 1,176.46.
Zaun (597.27) and Grundsoee (596.82) are among the top five air rifle shooters, while Haverhill sits just outside the top 10 with a season average of 595.27. Allan is 12th nationally at 595.23. Nina Schuett has had a strong season in air rifle, boasting a season average of 593.31.
Fresh of a career-high 597 in smallbore a week ago, Grundsoee sits second nationally with a season average of 591.50. Along with Grundsoee, Zaun is one of three NCAA athletes with a season average over 590 in smallbore at 590.73.
Allan (583.23), Hogan (583.23) and Haverhill (583.09) have also been among the best in the NCAA all season.
The NCAA selection show will take place Monday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m. (CT) on NCAA.com.
