Led the nation in scoring and 3-point shooting for the week of Dec. 16-22
FORT WORTH – Madison Conner received an early Christmas gift.

The TCU sharpshooter was selected as the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Tuesday.

Conner averaged an NCAA-leading 28.5 points per game for the week of Dec. 16-22 while connecting at a 50 percent clip (13-26) behind the arc. She netted 20-plus points in the first half and led all scorers in each of the 11th-ranked Horned Frogs' 103-64 and 92-52 wins over Samford and UCF.

The accolade is the first weekly national player of the week honor of Conner's career. She was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday.

Conner is the third member of TCU's roster to be tabbed Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week in 2024-25. Sedona Prince and Hailey Van Lith received the recognition on Dec. 3 in the aftermath of the Horned Frogs' victories over No. 3 Notre Dame and South Florida in the Cayman Islands Classic.

Against Samford, Conner rode an 8-16 mark from distance to 33 points. The performance was the fifth 30-point game of Conner's two-season tenure in Fort Worth. She overtook TCU all-time leading scorer Lauren Heard as the program record holder for career 30-point games. For reference, Conner only needed 39 outings in a TCU uniform to achieve the feat.

Conner's efforts on Saturday in Orlando lifted TCU (12-1, 1-0 Big 12) to its largest margin of victory in a Big 12 road game in its 40-point thrashing of the Knights. She tallied 20 of her game-high 24 points in the first half. Conner finished 5-10 from downtown, signifying the 12th time as a Frog she has drilled five-or-more 3-pointers in a game. No active D1 player has more games with five-plus 3-pointers over the last two seasons.

She is now the NCAA leader for 3-pointers (53) and 3-pointers per game (4.1). Conner also tops the D1 ranks in total 3-pointers since 2023-24 with 153.

Conner and TCU return to the court at 2 p.m. on Sunday against Brown (6-6) inside Schollmaier Arena. TCU then resumes conference play with back-to-back home games opposite Colorado and Cincinnati on Jan. 1 and Jan. 4.
