One of two players in program history to win the award on multiple occasions
FORT WORTH – Sedona Prince is now a three-time Big 12 Player of the Week.
The 6-7 center was tabbed the league's top performer for the week of Nov. 11-17 as voted on by a panel of media experts.
Prince averaged 20.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and four blocks per game in leading TCU (4-0) to a 90-31 rout over Texas State on Wednesday and Sunday's 76-73 upset of 13th-ranked NC State. She recorded a 31-point, 16-rebound double-double against the Wolfpack, tallying the most points and rebounds in a game by any player vs. a ranked opponent thus far in 2024-25.
From Liberty Hill, Texas, Prince twice claimed the weekly all-conference accolade during nonconference play in 2023-24. She joins TCU all-time leading scorer Lauren Heard as one of just two players in program history to win the award on multiple occasions.
Prince was the most dominant force on the floor vs. NC State in a game that featured six combined players selected to Naismith Starting 5 Awards preseason watch lists. She helped stake TCU to a 33-31 halftime edge via 15 points and seven rebounds in the first half. Prince then poured in 11 third quarter points on 5-5 shooting to give the Frogs' a double-digit advantage entering the final frame.
The 30-point performance was the second of Prince's career. She came one rebound shy of matching her single-game career-high on the glass.
Behind Prince, TCU earned its first win over a top 15 team since 2018 and first-ever victory over a reigning Final Four participant.
Against Texas State, Prince finished with 12 points, six blocks and five rebounds. She has blocked at least five shots in three of TCU's four games.
Prince's efforts vaulted TCU to 19th in The Associated Press poll on Monday, the program's highest AP Top 25 ranking in 16 seasons.
She ranks second nationally in blocks (19). Prince is the only player in the country averaging at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks per game.
Monday's honor marks the fifth piece of Big 12 recognition Prince has received in her TCU tenure. She garnered preseason and postseason All-Big 12 team laurels in 2023-24.
Prince and TCU continue a season-opening six game homestand vs. Incarnate Word at noon on Thursday in Schollmaier Arena.
