Five players score in double figures; Horned Frogs drain 16 three-pointerse
FORT WORTH – In its final tune up for primetime, TCU was at the peak of its powers, clobbering Texas State 90-31 on Wednesday in Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs canned 16 three-pointers and five players scored in double figures for the second consecutive outing. TCU shot 54 percent (35-65) in a game it led for all but 18 seconds.
TCU (3-0) surpassed its Mark Campbell era record for margin of victory just three days after rewriting the single-game section of its fact book in routing New Orleans 107-52. The Horned Frogs also matched their single-game record for 3-pointers under the second-year head coach.
As surgically as the offense operated, TCU was equally impressive at the other end of the floor. The Horned Frogs limited Texas State (1-2) to just 11 field goals and a 22 percent clip from the field. TCU outscored the Bobcats 44-13 in the second half. The 13 second half points allowed were the second-fewest in a game in the program's 48-season history.
The dominant showing preceded perhaps the most anticipated home women's basketball game in a decade. The Horned Frogs battle No. 13 NC State at 2 p.m. on Sunday in a game that will air on ESPN. TCU last hosted a reigning Final Four participant in 2004. The tilt signifies TCU's first linear broadcast in five seasons.
Hailey Van Lith again flirted with a triple-double. The Olympic bronze medalist finished with a game-leading 17 points, nine assists and six rebounds.

Madison Conner and Sedona Prince tallied 11 points apiece while Aaliyah Roberson pitched in 11 off the bench.
Agnes Emma-Nnopu made her season-debut after missing TCU's first two games due to injury. She matched Van Lith for the game-high on the boards and knocked down two 3-pointers across 16 minutes.
TCU raced out to an 8-1 edge just 64 seconds into the midweek affair behind deep balls from Conner and Bigby. The fast start was a harbinger of the end result.
The Horned Frogs assumed a 21-9 lead following the first frame via a 5-12 clip from long range. Conner and Bigby accounted for four of the Frogs' 3-pointers.
Donovyn Hunter scored four straight points to swell the lead to 29-11 with 5:39 remaining in the half. TCU then sandwiched a 22-4 extended scoring surge between the second and third quarters that widened its advantage to 57-20.
Van Lith rattled off six straight points before an Emma-Nnopu three and jumper near the top of the key from Prince punctuated an 11-2 run entering the locker room.
Hunter and Bigby single-handedly orchestrated an identical run to open the second half. The Horned Frogs converted 6-9 attempts behind the arc in the third quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 26-7.
Natalie Mazurek swished TCU's 16th-and-final 3-pointer at the 1:32 mark in the final period.
Prince, who leads the nation in blocks, rejected six shots for the second time in three outings this season. She is averaging 5.7 blocks per night.
