6-3 forward will undergo season-ending ankle surgery
FORT WORTH – TCU forward DaiJa Turner will undergo season-ending surgery on her left ankle, the program announced on Wednesday.
Turner suffered the setback during a recent team practice but attempted to play through the injury in the Horned Frogs games at Texas and Houston on Jan. 10-13.
The 6-3 sophomore was one of five players to appear in all 18 games for TCU (14-4, 1-6 Big 12) thus far. Turner averaged three rebounds and 2.2 points across an average of 11.5 minutes per game. In her third season with the program, Turner more than tripled her scoring and rebounding averages and time on the court from 2022-23.
Originally from Fayetteville, North Carolina, Turner earned three starts at center for the Horned Frogs. She started TCU's games vs. Oklahoma State (Jan. 6) and at Texas in place of Wooden Award candidate Sedona Prince, who is currently sidelined with a right hand injury.
Turner led TCU in plus-minus rating and snagged a career-high 14 rebounds in her first collegiate start vs. Prairie View A&M on Dec. 10. She led all players with nine boards against the Cowgirls and chipped in six rebounds over 14 minutes at Houston.
TCU's next scheduled game is Jan. 23 vs. UCF.
