
Miller’s Game-Winner Gives TCU Win over No. 2 Houston

Horned Frogs come back from 12 points down in defensive battle
FORT WORTH - An Emanuel Miller layup with 6.7 seconds to play put TCU on top for good in a 68-67 win over No. 2 Houston in a defensive battle Saturday evening in Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs (13-3, 2-1) trailed 67-63 with 1:27 to play following a 3-pointer by Jamal Shead of Houston (14-2, 1-2). TCU answered on the next possession with one of four 3-pointers in the game by Trevian Tennyson.
A missed shot by LJ Cryer and a missed free throw by J'Wan Roberts kept TCU down one with 35 seconds left. After the Miller layup to give TCU a one-point lead, Micah Peavy stole the ball from Damian Dunn just past Houston's 3-point line and the Cougars never got a shot off.
TCU's win was its second-straight over an AP Top 10-ranked opponent after beating No. 9 Oklahoma on Wednesday. It was also the Frogs' top-ranked win at home since 2020 when it defeated No. 2 Baylor.
Miller led the Frogs with 13 points and three rebounds and five assists. He was joined in double-figures by Tennyson's 12 points and 11 points by Avery Anderson III who finished with a team-high six assists.
The Frogs trailed by as many as 12 points with 8:14 remaining in the first half, but ended the half scoring nine unanswered points. Despite shooting 27.3 percent in the period, TCU trailed by two, 31-29, thanks to a 13-of-20 effort from the free throw line.
A three by Anderson two-minutes into the second half gave TCU its first lead since 3-0. The Frogs maintained the lead until a 3-pointer by Dunn with 4:22 remaining.
TCU shot 55.2 percent in the second half and was 4-for-4 from 3-point range, part of an 8-for-15 game from deep.
Roberts led the Cougars with a season-high 20 points.
TCU travels to Cincinnati to face the Bearcats at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday. The game will air on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
