
Buckley Records Double-Double in Loss to UNI

Buckley led the Frogs with 36 assists, 21 digs in five-set loss to Panthers
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – TCU fell in five sets to UNI, 3-2, on the first day of the Texas A&M Invitational on Thursday night at Reed Arena.
Three Horned Frogs tallied double-digit kills and Riley Buckley posted her second double-double of the season and the 11th of her career (36 assists, 21 digs) in the loss.
The Rundown
TCU came back after losing the first set and tallied 15 kills on a .310 hitting percentage to even the score in set two. Tied 15-all, Melanie Parra landed a kill to give TCU the 16-15 advantage. Another kill from Parra at the 19-19 point propelled the Frogs to a 5-0 scoring run. A final kill from Jalyn Gibson clinched the set for TCU.
With the match tied at 1-1, TCU took control of the third set from the get-go. Leading 11-8, Sarah Sylvester recorded one of her four kills on the night and sparked a 4-0 scoring run for the Frogs, putting them up 15-8.
TCU continued to command the third set as back-to-back kills from Gibson gave the Frogs a 20-10 lead. As the set came to a close, Sylvester put on a show as she racked up one kill and three blocks in the final four points to solidify the win.
The fourth set was a back-and-forth battle from the beginning with five tied scores and three lead changes throughout the frame. Up 10-9, Audrey Nalls landed back-to-back kills to give TCU a 12-9 advantage.
Tied at 15-15, the Panthers took a 16-15 lead and never gave up the edge. The Frogs pulled within two points at 22-20, but UNI finished the set on a 3-1 scoring run to take the match to five sets.
Two errors by the Panthers gave TCU a 2-0 lead in the fifth, but UNI began to climb their way back, Tied at 5-all, UNI scored four straight points to take a commanding lead. Down 14-8, TCU tallied three straight points to try and rally, but a final UNI kill gave the Panthers the 15-11 set win.
Parra was the team leader with 15 kills while Gibson (13) and Nalls (10) also landed double-figure kills. Riley Buckley, in addition to having four kills of her own, tallied her second double-double of the season (36 assists, 21 digs) with the 21 digs being a new career high.
TCU Notes
• TCU (12) recorded twice as many blocks as UNI (6).
• TCU tallied seven service aces to UNI's five.
• TCU recorded a match-best .345 hitting in the second set and hit over .300 in both the second and third sets.
• Melanie Parra (15) led the team in kills. It's the fourth game this season she has led TCU in kills.
• Parra also led the team with three service aces.
• Parra finished the match with a team-best 19 points.
• Jalyn Gibson (13) tallied double-digit kills for the fifth time this season.
• Parra (56) and Gibson (45) each posted career-highs in attacks.
• Gibson's three assists against UNI were also a career best.
• Audrey Nalls (10) posted her second double-figure kill game of the season.
• In her second double-double of the season, Riley Buckley tallied a career-best and team-leading 21 digs.
• Buckley also led the team with 36 assists.
• Cecily Bramschreiber was one assist away from her first career double-double. The junior finished second on the team in digs (15) and posted a career-best nine assists.
• Sarah Sylvester led TCU with a season-best seven blocks.
• Brianna Green and Jalyn Gibson each tallied 4+ blocks on the night.
