Horned Frogs shoot a 9-under 855 over the two-day affair
CORINTH, Texas – TCU saved its best for last in the final round of play at the Sam Golden Invitational on Tuesday at Oakmont Country Club in Corinth, Texas.
The Horned Frogs turned in an 8-under 280 amidst wet and windy conditions on the north Texas plains. TCU ascended two spots in the team tables to place eighth out of 12 teams, ahead of BYU, Charlotte, Kennesaw State and Tulane.
"Proud of our grit and competitive fire today," said head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin. "We will come back and work hard to be totally ready for our next one."
TCU concluded the 54-hole affair at nine-under-par (855). Three Horned Frogs finished under par on Tuesday and overall.
"I was so proud of the way this group came out and showed who they are as a team," first-year assistant coach Kendall Ahrens said. "I think this round will propel us into the next event ready and prepared!"
Sofia Barroso Sa was TCU's top performer. She carded five birdies on Tuesday to post a 7-under 209 and tie for 13th. Barroso Sa notched two personal records over her two-day stay in Corinth. The Portugal native set a new career-high for her low-54 score (209), while tying herlow-18 score (-4, 68).
Freshman Sofie Dimitrova stole the show in the final round. Celebrating her 20th birthday, Dimitrova delivered TCU's lowest score of the morning at 5-under 67. The Czech Republic national team member racked up a career-high seven birdies and set a new personal best low-18 score. Dimitrova skyrocketed up the individual leaderboard to finish tied for 35th.
Lois Lau continued her consistency over her final 18 holes. Lau, TCU's senior captain, began the day three-under and added an eagle and three birdies to her score to cap the tournament tied for 22nd at 4-under 212.
Junior Meagan Winans added two birdies of her own on the final day, signing off on an impressive tournament-debut for the Horned Frogs. Winans, who transferred to TCU in July from Oklahoma, placed T52 at 3-over 219.
Sheridan Clancy shot a 2-over 74 with one birdie and finished tied for 62nd (9-over, 225).
