FORT WORTH – TCU volleyball added to its roster in a big way on Tuesday, as head coach Jason Williams announced the signing of University of Denver transfer Brianna Green to the Horned Frogs' 2023 roster.
"We are beyond excited that Bri will be joining the volleyball family over the summer," head coach Jason Williams said. "She brings First-Team All-Conference talent and experience, but more importantly she brings a joy for the game that will help our program reach new heights."
The 6-1 middle blocker returns home to the DFW area after playing four seasons for the Pioneers. She helped lead Denver to a 19-12 overall record in 2022 and a Summit League Semifinals appearance. Denver finished the 2023 season fourth in the Summit League with a 12-6 conference record.
Prior to joining the Pioneers, the Dallas, Texas, native was named First Team All-District in her senior year of high school. She also ranked first among DFW high school players in blocks.
A 2022 First-Team All-Summit League selection, Green led the Pioneers and the Summit League in total blocks (157) and blocks per set (1.41). Her 1.41 blocks per set also ranked 16th in Division I. She garnered Summit League Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 20 after holding teams to a .119 hitting percentage as the Pioneers won the Thin Air Challenge.
Successful both defensively and offensively, Green also posted career-highs during the 2022 season as she tallied 216 kills and 30 service aces last year.
She led Denver in blocks in three of her four seasons, with 116 her first year, 100 her junior year and 157 her senior year. On the offensive side, Green amassed 598 career kills and 27 assists in 377 sets played over her career.
Throughout four years at Denver, she tallied 450 blocks and finished sixth on Denver's all-time blocks list. She garnered First-Team All-Summit League honors in 2020 and was also named to the Summit League All-Freshman team in 2019.
"Her passion and enthusiasm will help us continue to build a championship culture," Williams said. "I'm working on putting a roster together of full buy-in student athletes and Bri is bringing that to Fort Worth. We can't wait to get to work with her in the gym and off the court with her leadership."
