The Horned Frogs advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Championship for the first time in 2023
FORT WORTH – Coming off the best season in program history, the TCU beach volleyball program will join Conference USA beginning in 2024.
The Horned Frogs advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Championship for the first time and won the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Championship. TCU had been a member of the CCSA since 2019.
"I want to thank the CCSA for letting TCU join five years ago," said TCU head coach Hector Gutierrez, who won CCSA Coach of the Year honors for the second-straight season. "Moving to Conference USA will allow us to continue to play against the best teams in the country. We'll be able to further enhance the sport on campus and in our community with the chance to host conference championships. I'm really excited about the opportunity to grow our fanbase even more than it already is."
Missouri State and Tarleton State will also join C-USA in 2024. The rest of the conference will consist of Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Jacksonville State, Tulane, UAB and UTEP.
TCU has a brief history with C-USA when it was a member of the conference for most sports for four seasons, from 2001-2005.
The TCU beach volleyball program has transformed into one of the most successful in the country over the last three seasons. The Horned Frogs went 37-3 and received their first No. 1 ranking in the AVCA Coaches and CollegeBeachVB.com polls and held that honor for six consecutive weeks. Five Frogs have received seven AVCA All-American honors including AVCA Pair of the Year Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno this past season.
"Adding programs of this pedigree puts us in a position to make a larger imprint nationally in beach volleyball," Conference USA Deputy Commissioner Keisha Dunlap said. "We are very much looking forward to working with each of these three universities, their leadership groups and are very excited about our future for this growing sport within our portfolio."
