UCLA snaps a program best 29-match win streak

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIF. – The No. 1 TCU beach volleyball team (29-1) went 1-1 on the opening day of the Center of Effort Challenge in San Luis Obispo, California. The Horned Frogs downed Cal Poly, 4-1, and fell to No. 3 UCLA, 3-2.

The Bruin's snaped a program best 29-match win streak to hand TCU its first loss of the season.

Three Frogs delivered perfect 2-0 days: Daniela Alvarez, Hailey Hamlett and Tania Moreno.

QUICK HITS AGAINST CAL POLY:

Hailey Hamlett and Ana Vergara scored the first point of the dual in straight sets from the No. 4 position: 21-12, 21-11.
This is the pairings first appearance and victory together.
Hamlett improved her record this season to 21-2 and Vergara to 22-3.
Rochelle Scott and Hailey Brockett took the next point for TCU with their straight set victory at No. 5: 21-11, 21-9.
Riding a 21-match win streak, the longest in program history, the pairing remained unbeaten at 21-0.
Individually, the pairing remains perfect this season, Scott at 28-0 and Brockett at 24-0.
Anhelina Khmil and Kate Privett clinched the Horned Frog victory in straight sets from the No. 2 position: 21-15, 21-16.
The duo improved their record this season to 13-1.
Khmil improved to 25-1 this season and Privett to 27-2.
Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno tallied the fourth consecutive point in straight sets at No. 1: 21-13, 21-14.
The pairing claimed their 25^th victory of the season.
Alvarez improved her record this season to 28-1 and Moreno to 25-1.
The Frogs showcased their strength winning 9-of-11 sets played.
TCU improved to 4-3 all time against the Mustangs.

QUICK HITS AGAINST NO. 3 UCLA:

Kate Privett and Anhelina Khmil were the first Horned Frog duo to finish.
After a hard-fought first set, the duo was unable to bounce back and fell to the No. 2 pairing: 21-23, 13-21.
Maria Gonzalez and Hailey Hamlett took the first point from the No. 4 position in straight sets as the Frogs evened the score: 21-16, 21-14.
The pairing improved their record to 13-2.
The duo tallied their eighth ranked victory of the season.
Gonzalez improved to 23-3 this season and Hamlett to 21-2.
Rochelle Scott and Hailey Brockett finished third from the No. 5 position.
The pairing was narrowly defeated in straight sets: 17-21, 18-21.
Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno put TCU right back in the dual with their nail-biting victory from the No. 1 position: 21-15, 12-21, 21-19.
The pairing claimed their 26^th victory of the season.
The duo tallied their 12th ranked victory this season.
Alvarez improved her record this season to 29-1 and Moreno to 26-1.
Tied again at 2-2, it all came down to Sutton MacTavish and Ana Vergara who were also in their third set.
The pairing dropped a hard-fought match to the Bruins No. 3 pairing: 21-23, 13-21, 10-15.
The Horned Frogs drop to 2-4 all time against UCLA.
