
Frogs Wrap Up Day One at Big 12 Indoor Championships

Six Frogs earn podium finishes, five Frogs advance to Saturday's finals
LUBBOCK, Texas – Several Frogs earned podium finishes and five Frogs advanced to Saturday's finals on Day One of the Big 12 Indoor Championships.
Coming in fifth overall, Patrick Sylla earned the top finish of the day for the Frogs in the men's long jump. His leap of 7.38m (24-2.50) was good for fifth on the podium. Joining him was Jaren Holmes, whose jump of 7.36m (24-2.50) was good for sixth.
In the men's and women's DMR, both teams ran the second-fastest times in school history. The women's team of London Culbreath, Lailah White, Jasmin Muhammad-Graham and Mariana Martinez ran an 11:47.81 to place seventh, while the men's team of Noah Winters, Simbarashe Maketa, Ryan Martin and Stone Burke clocked a 9:56.39 to place eighth.
In the women's pentathlon, Elise Dobson recorded personal bests in four events and took eighth with a score of 3,602 points. Quinn Calhoun also notched a spot on the podium with her eighth-place finish in the women's pole vault (3.99m, 13-1).
Iyana Gray qualified for both 60m and 200m finals. In the 60m prelims, she took sixth overall and second in her heat with a 7.29, the second-fastest indoor time in school history. She also ran the second-fastest indoor 200m (23.07) to qualify for the finals.
David Seete placed second overall in the 600 yard prelims (1:09.55) to have a chance at gold in Saturday's finals. In the men's 200m prelims, Donnie James finished sixth with his team-leading time of 20.89. Jasmin Muhammad-Graham was the final Frog to qualify for the finals after fishing eighth in the 800m prelims with her time of 2:09.96.
