
Washington Wins Long Jump at Jarvis Scott Open

Iyana Gray finishes second, runs third-fastest indoor 60m time in program history
LUBBOCK, Texas – Highlighted by several Horned Frogs advancing to their respective event finals, the TCU track and field teams shined on Day One of the Jarvis Scott Open on Friday night in the Sports Performance Center.
Jumping a season-best 5.88m (19-3.50) in the long jump, Dreunna Washington earned her first win of the season. She jumped the winning mark on her third attempt.
Iyana Gray placed second overall in the 60m finals with her personal-best time of 7.32. It was the third fastest time in school history and is currently tied for No. 39 on the NCAA indoor performance list (7.34a)
After running a 7.38 in the prelims, Gray won her heat and automatically qualified for the 60m finals. Rachel Hall finished seventh overall with a time of 7.50. Hall ran the seventh fastest time (7.46) in the prelims to advance.
Adding to the jumpers' stellar day, Patrick Sylla took second in the men's long jump with his mark of 7.30m (23-11.50). Placing third with a 7.24m (23-9.0) was Jaren Holmes.
Jasmin Muhammad-Graham ran 2:13.11 in the 800m to finish second overall. On the men's side, Ryan Martin's time of 1:51.53 was a new personal best. He moved up to sixth on TCU's all-time indoor list and placed eighth overall.
In the women's 5,000m, Peyton McQuillan placed second with her time of 17:52.11.
Simbarashe Maketa placed sixth overall in the men's 400m (47.15). After advancing to the women's 60m hurdles finals, Jill Johnson finished eighth in the finals. She ran a season-best 8.73 in the qualifying round.
