Top three schools in the country to compete Saturday in Fort Worth
FORT WORTH – The top three ranked rifle programs will be in action Saturday at the TCU Rifle Range as the No. 2 Horned Frogs host No. 1 West Virginia and No. 3 Nebraska. Action gets underway at 8:30 a.m.
West Virginia (4,745.67) and TCU (4,735.67) rank No. 1 and No. 2 in the nation, respectively, in season aggregate average, while Nebraska sits seventh with a season average of 4,713. In air rifle, the trio are the top three teams in the nation with TCU leading the way, averaging a 2,383.33. West Virginia leads the nation in smallbore average (2,363.33) while TCU sits second with a season average of 2,352.33.
Stephanie Grundsoee and Katie Zaun are two of the top three shooters in the nation. Grundsoee leads the NCAA in aggregate average (1,190.33), ranks second in smallbore (592.33) and third in air rifle (598.00). Zaun is third nationally in aggregate average (1,190), second in air rifle (598.33) and third in smallbore (591.67).
Stephanie Allan and Jeanne Haverhill have served as counters in all three matches this season. Anne White and Mikole Hogan have shared duties as counters. Allan averages a 595.0 in air rifle and a 582 in smallbore, while Haverhill has a 593.33 air rifle season average and a 583.33 smallbore average. White sits 15th nationally with a 596 air rifle season average.
