Zaun fires career-high 594 in smallbore
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The No. 2 ranked TCU women's rifle team fired a team score of 4,735 at Air Force on Saturday. Katie Zaun led all shooters, firing a career-high 594 in smallbore and a 598 in air rifle to match her career high aggregate mark of 1,192.
As a team, the Horned Frogs produced a smallbore score of 2,351 and a 2,384 in air rifle to win the dual against the Falcons. Air Force fired a team score of 4,721 (2,342 smallbore; 2,379 air rifle).
Following Zaun's first place finish was Stephanie Grundsoee in second as she matched her season-high aggregate mark with a 1,191. Jeanne Haverhill finished sixth (1,178). Mikole Hogan's season-high aggregate of 1,176 was seventh. Anne White (1,174) finished eighth and Nina Schuett rounded out the top 10 with a season-high 1,172.
TCU fired six of the top 10 individual marks in smallbore. Zaun led all shooters with a 594 followed closely by Grundsoee's 593. Haverhill matched her career high with a 585. White contributed a 579 to the team score. Not factoring into the team total was Hogan's 584.
In air rifle, the Frogs produced five of the top 10 individual scores. Zaun and Grundsoee tied for the best air rifle mark, shooting a 598. White fired a 595 and Haverhill a 593 to contribute to the final team score. Not factoring in the team tally was Schuett's season-high 595.
TCU will open up a three match homestand on Oct. 28. Heading to the TCU Rifle Range on Saturday will be No. 1 West Virginia and No. 4 Nebraska.
