Horned Fogs pitched a 16-0 shutout in the teams' last meeting in 2021
FORT WORTH – TCU's equestrian team is set to host Tarleton in an exhibition meet at 10 a.m. on Friday at Bear Creek Farms.
The meet marks the second time in as many years TCU's season debut comes opposite the Texans. The Horned Frogs commenced the 2021-22 campaign with a 16-0 shutout of Tarleton in the first matchup between the schools.
RIDING FOR TCU
Eight newcomers – seven of whom are freshmen – and six returners from 2021-22 comprise TCU's exhibition entries.
Fences: The Horned Frogs' fences lineup features an intriguing blend of veterans and new faces. Juniors Hanna Loeffelbein is penciled in for the race as are freshmen Annalise Manoog and Jordan Scelsa. The fences slate will also feature the debut of junior Ella Bostwick, who arrived in Fort Worth this summer following a two-year run at Georgia.
Bostwick and Manoog are two of the more heralded newcomers on TCU's roster. Bostwick was crowned the Champion of the SFHJA Junior Medal Finals and both Champion and Reserve Champion at the Jr. Hunter Finals in 2019. Manoog's decorated prep career includes a victory at the 2021 New England Equitation Championships, and fourth-place finish in the 2022 Region 1 ASPCA Maclay Regional.
Flat: Bostwick and Manoog are doubling up in Flat, where they will be joined by sophomore Laurel Smith and freshman Victoria Zahorik. Smith secured three wins in Flat in 2021-22.
Horsemanship: Alexis Cook, Sidney Dunham and Catherine Goffard highlight the trio of returnees competing for TCU in Horsemanship. The ride will also feature the collegiate debut of freshman Tatum Keller.
Reining: All for athletes are making their first rides as Horned Frogs, as freshmen Kylie Baker, Kaylene Cunningham, Anna Clausen and Lannie-Jo Lisac comprise TCU's reining lineup. Clausen was crowned the Co-Champion at the 2021 Run for a Million Show in the Non-Pro division among her laundry list of prep accomplishments while Lisac claimed first place at the 2021 AQHYA World Show in the Working Cow Horse.
UP NEXT
Five straight road meets await TCU, beginning with its regular season debut at Texas A&M on Sept. 23. Following a week-long respite, the Horned Frogs fly to the Delaware beaches for back-to-back contests against Delaware and UT Martin on Oct. 6-7. TCU's extended road swing concludes with an Oct. 21 meet at Baylor in its Big 12 opener.
The fall portion of TCU's schedule concludes with three home meets, beginning with two consecutive Big 12 meets opposite Oklahoma State on Oct. 28 and Fresno State on Nov. 3. The Horned Frogs then host UC Davis on Nov. 11 before breaking for the winter holidays.
